Colour plays a major part in these Spring-time classes, which will focus on our environment and the natural world. We’ll be working with photographs, landscape and still life, with options to venture into abstract styles too, and you’ll find yourself experimenting and learning new skills in pastel, ink, watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. Plenty of ideas and techniques to practise, but going at a gentle pace – the optional afternoon sessions give you the chance to spend a bit more time on the morning’s themes.
All sessions take place in Hay Parish Hall, Hay-on-Wye, HR3 5AB. Mornings run from 10am to 1pm (including 20 minute tea-break). Book the course for £120 (5 mornings; it is not possible to book individual sessions).
Each class continues with an optional afternoon drawing session, 2pm – 4pm, for practising your skills, improvising your drawing techniques, or getting more individual advice from Marianne. The full cost (all 5 mornings and all 5 afternoons) is £190.
You will need to bring your own materials, though Marianne may be able to lend you some if necessary. When you make your booking, you’ll be sent a list of what to bring.
Suitable for all ages and skills: begnners, improvers and experienced.
It is a condition of booking that every student agrees to these Covid-19 Rules before attending any course.
Marianne is well aware of the anxieties around Covid-19 and the need to offer a safe teaching environment. Therefore, she has drawn up Covid-19 Rules and a Risk Assessment document that outlines the various necessary procedures for each day. Careful planning has gone into the design of these courses, so that on the day the whole class can relax and have fun.
